Hi, I'm Angela. The Founder and Principal Strategist for Semilla Consulting LLC
I grew up in West Phoenix in a neighborhood marked by violence and limited opportunity, where my family’s cycles of poverty felt impossible to escape. I became a product of my environment, running with the wrong crowd and getting myself into trouble. That was until I was tired of the trauma, stress, and anger, and I knew I needed a way out. I was ambitious but did not know the path out until local organizations and mentors handed me a ladder. Those early interventions changed everything and became the blueprint for the work I do today.
My career began with an opportunity in higher education and grew into nearly two decades of hands on learning in financial aid, learning coaching, corporate training, and employee resource group leadership. I organized conversations about equity, designed and delivered DEI programming, and connected with people across sectors and career stages throughout the Phoenix metro area and beyond. Later, as an Equity Programs Director in the nonprofit sector, I taught racial justice, designed learning experiences, moderated panels, and partnered with government, corporate, and community leaders.
This lived journey from survival to strategy shapes every program I design and every room I facilitate. I bring operational rigor, cultural insight, and deep empathy. I center the voices of frontline staff, youth, and women of color because I know what it feels like to be overlooked and what it takes to be seen. Semilla plants seeds that grow into sustainable change, removing barriers and building leadership from the ground up so organizations do not just talk about equity, they live it.
